———— ABOUT ME ————

Hello there!

Not me, but honestly, the vibe tracks. (image credit: thaís medeiros via dupe photos)

I’m Stacy, the millennial with late-diagnosed ADHD behind Red Pen Romance—armed with a sharp eye for detail, overly verbose communication style, and a lifelong hyper-fixation on finding that one lingering typo.

Since I was around eight years old, I’ve been passionate about writing and editing—sharing my thoughts (via various blogs like every other person who lived through the aughts) or penning stories and plays I probably (most certainly) over-edited.

My college education was focused entirely on storytelling: a Bachelor’s in Theater playwriting, and four years packed with film, English literature, and creative writing courses. (Dialogue writing and learning how punctuation could make or break a moment of tension was—and still is—a particular passion of mine.)

Like so many 2008 recession survivors, I fell less-than-enthusiastically into the corporate world. For the last eighteen years professionally, I have worked in quality management, technical editing, compliance, and document control—a.k.a. jobs built around catching inconsistencies, fixing problems before they become bigger problems, and making sure things are polished, organized, and readable while facing tight timelines and extremely high stakes.

Somewhere along the way, all of that collided with my love of romance novels and indie publishing. I am utterly thrilled to finally be working with writers and helping to tell the stories I love to read.

WHAT LIGHTS ME UP

The good stuff.

I’m especially drawn to romance with strong chemistry and emotional tension, messy people making questionable decisions, and the kind of dialogue that makes you immediately text a friend while cackling at midnight. A spicy scene or two (or ten) is also—admittedly—a true delight.

I’m probably reading romance (duh), talking about romance, outlining creative projects I absolutely do not have time for (ADHD—a blessing and a curse!), or convincing myself my girlfriends need more bookish friendship bracelets.

(They do not, but too bad for them.)

I don’t post much, but you should connect with me on Instagram and Threads.
